Norma Ortega demands swearing-in to investigate Capulhuac funds
Norma Ortega Ortiz, the substitute president of Capulhuac, is demanding that the Tribunal Electoral del Estado de México (TEEM) expedite her swearing-in to office. Ortega seeks to address a financial crisis in the municipality, citing concerns over hundreds of millions of pesos in allocated funds that residents claim have not been visibly invested.
The demand follows the legal situation of the former mayor, Selenne “N”, who was sentenced to five years and five months in prison for injuries and alleged sexual abuse. Ortega argues there is no legal excuse for the tribunal to delay her appointment, noting that authorities have been aware of the conviction since July. She has threatened to organize a protest at the tribunal's offices if the matter is not resolved promptly to restore legality and legitimacy to the municipal government.
