Normalista protesters shut Tlalpan toll booth on Mexico‑Cuernavaca highway

On 12 June 2026 a group of self‑identified “normalistas” seized the Tlalpan toll booth on the Mexico‑Cuernavaca highway in Mexico City. The demonstrators arrived in 17 passenger buses and used additional vehicles, including a pipe‑truck and a platform truck, to block both lanes of the road.

The city’s Secretariat of Public Security (SSC) erected a security perimeter around the site, but the protesters have not entered into dialogue with authorities. Traffic through the toll booth remains halted in both directions, forcing motorists to use alternative routes on the federal highway and to expect significant delays. Officials advise drivers to plan extra travel time while the blockage continues.
