Normalista students vandalize Government Palace in Cuernavaca

Students from the Amilcingo Rural Normal School, joined by demonstrators from Ayotzinapa and Tenería, vandalized the Government Palace in Cuernavaca, Morelos. The protesters burned mattresses in the Plaza de Armas and caused damage to the building's windows and facilities.

The unrest follows the sudden cancellation of a scheduled meeting between the students and Governor Margarita González Saravia. The students had sought to discuss the leadership of their institution, protesting the alleged imposition of a new director after the previous one was removed for failing to meet requirements.

Demonstrators accused the governor of using helicopters and riot police to intimidate them rather than engaging in dialogue. The students, who have been without classes for a month, stated they hold the governor responsible for their safety following the cancellation of the meeting.
