Normandy authorities urge preparation of 72-hour emergency kits

Following recent severe weather in Normandy, local authorities have issued a reminder for residents to prepare a 72-hour emergency kit. The goal is to ensure households can remain self-sufficient for three days during crises such as storms, floods, or power outages when electricity, water, or communication networks may be disrupted.

Recommended items for the kit include potable water, non-perishable food, a flashlight, a battery-operated radio, a first aid kit, and essential medications. Additionally, residents are advised to include warm clothing, emergency blankets, phone chargers, cash, and copies of important documents.

Authorities recommend keeping the kit in an easily accessible location known to all household members and checking the contents at least once a year to monitor expiration dates on food and medicine.
