Noroc musical group history and Soviet censorship

The musical group Noroc, founded in 1966 in the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic, is marking 60 years on stage. Led by Mihai Dolgan, the ensemble achieved widespread popularity across the Soviet Union by blending rock, jazz, and folklore.

The group's success led to significant conflict with communist authorities. In 1970, the band was banned because their repertoire and behavior were deemed contrary to Soviet ideology. The history of the group is closely tied to the personal experiences of Dolgan, who was deported to Siberia as a child, an event that deeply influenced his connection to music.
