Norse Atlantic Airways to launch US routes after regaining aircraft

Norwegian long‑haul carrier Norse Atlantic Airways is rebuilding its network with a focus on the United States. CEO Eivind Roald announced that the airline will start new services to Orlando, Florida and New York once the winter season begins, aiming to sell tickets early to secure profitability. The expansion follows the return of aircraft previously leased to India’s IndiGo; of its 12 long‑distance planes, six were on lease and are now available for Norse’s own routes.

The airline plans to use its Boeing 787 Dreamliners for the new transatlantic flights, while also exploring lease agreements for its Boeing 767 Dreamliners with other carriers. Roald described the routes as “profitable” and stressed the urgency to launch before the end of October. Analysts at GlobalData note that low‑cost long‑haul models remain risky, with low consumer confidence and only about 36 % of travelers willing to fly intercontinentally, especially as travel bans persist.

Norse’s future remains uncertain, with the company also considering partnerships or a possible sale as it seeks to stabilise its operations.
