Norsk Osteopatforbund shares health barometer data at Arendalsuka
The Norwegian Osteopathic Association (Norsk Osteopatforbund) presented the results of its 2026 Health Barometer survey at Arendalsuka, the annual political and policy forum in Arendal. The Kantar poll of 2,036 Norwegians found that 37 % had sought treatment for musculoskeletal problems in the past year, while 24 % reported waiting for needed care. A majority – 63 % – believe that osteopaths, naprapaths and physiotherapists should be allowed to refer patients, a right currently reserved for general practitioners and chiropractors. Association leader Tomas Collin said the data underline the need for better use of existing frontline professionals to shorten wait times and improve access to care.
Arendalsuka also hosted a packed schedule of health‑focused debates, with more than 500 sessions planned. Key participants included Norwegian Health Directorate head Lill Sverresdatter Larsen, physician‑president Anne‑Karin Rime and research council leader Gunnar Bovim. The programme featured discussions on digitalisation in health, the future of the welfare system and the role of various health professions in Norway’s public‑service model.
