North American box office exceeds $8 billion driven by Spider-Man success

The North American film industry is experiencing its strongest performance since 2011, with box office revenues in the United States and Canada surpassing $8 billion. This milestone was reached on the 282nd day of the year, significantly faster than in previous years. The current year shows an approximate 20% increase in revenue compared to the previous year.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is the primary driver of this growth, having earned over $950 million in the domestic market and surpassing $2.5 billion globally, making it the highest-grossing film in U.S. history. Other major contributors include Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” “Toy Story 5,” and “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.”

In addition to major franchise successes, independent films such as “Obsession” and “Backrooms” have also performed strongly. Industry experts predict that total annual revenues could reach $10 billion, potentially making this the most profitable year since the pandemic.
