North Carolina A&T Tops 2025 HBCU Marching Band Rankings

The 2025 HBCU Band of the Year rankings rank ten historically Black college and university marching bands across categories such as musicality, percussion, drill, design, drum majors and auxiliaries. North Carolina A&T State University’s Blue and Gold Marching Machine finished first in the cumulative Division 1 rankings, earning top honors for its powerful arrangements, sharp formations and energetic drumline. Other bands highlighted include Florida A&M University’s Marching 100, noted for its precision and long‑standing legacy; Tennessee State University’s Aristocrat of Bands, the first HBCU band to perform at a presidential inauguration and the first collegiate marching band to win a Grammy in 2023; and Norfolk State University’s Spartan Legion. The list is intended to spark discussion rather than declare an absolute winner, acknowledging that fan preferences vary.
