North Carolina A&T upsets Rhode Island 22-18 for first win
North Carolina A&T secured its first victory of the 2026 season by upsetting nationally ranked Rhode Island 22-18 at Truist Stadium in Greensboro. The win ends an 0-4 start for the Aggies and marks a significant Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) victory under head coach Shawn Gibbs.
Despite being outgained in total offense 398-303 and losing the time of possession battle, North Carolina A&T capitalized on defensive plays. Tyrek Brown returned a fumble forced by Donavan Frederick for a 69-yard touchdown. Kevin White contributed a 2-yard touchdown run, while freshman kicker Asher Holland provided crucial points with field goals of 21, 31, and 41 yards.
