North Carolina basketball evaluates newcomers and defensive metrics

North Carolina basketball is integrating several high-profile newcomers for the 2026-27 season, most notably transfer guard Terrence Brown. Brown joins the Tar Heels from Utah, where he averaged nearly 20 points per game.

While the roster features significant scoring potential through Brown and other newcomers like Cameron Fens and Neo Avdalas, questions remain regarding the team's defensive identity following the departure of Seth Trimble. Analytical metrics, specifically Defensive Regularized Adjusted Plus-Minus (RAPM), are being used to evaluate how effectively the new arrivals can impact the team's defensive performance relative to Division I averages.
