North Carolina coastal flooding and storm damage alerts
The National Weather Service has identified a window from October 26 to 28, 2026, during which minor coastal flooding may occur along parts of southeastern North Carolina. This potential flooding is linked to high astronomical tides surrounding the full moon and may occur even without a storm system. A second period of possible flooding is noted for November 24 to 26.
In a separate weather event, the remnants of the 2026 post-tropical cyclone Isaias brought significant rainfall to the Charlotte and Piedmont regions of North Carolina between October 9 and 11. The North Carolina State Climate Office reported that Charlotte received 2.63 inches of rain over those two days, marking its highest two-day total since the previous August. While the heaviest rainfall and localized flooding were concentrated in the mountains, the system prompted safety warnings from North Carolina Emergency Management regarding flooded roads and local alerts.
