North Carolina health officials warn of measles exposure

Health authorities in North Carolina have issued alerts regarding potential measles exposure at two locations in Western North Carolina.

The first exposure occurred at an Exxon gas station located at 1920 Four Seasons Blvd. in Hendersonville on August 25, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Individuals present during this window are advised to monitor for symptoms until September 15, 2026.

The second exposure took place at the Holiday Inn Express, located at 435 Smokey Park Highway in Asheville, on August 26 between 1:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Those exposed should monitor their health until September 16, 2026.

Public health officials recommend that unvaccinated individuals aged one year and older receive the measles vaccine. Anyone experiencing symptoms is advised to stay home and contact their local health department immediately. To prevent further transmission, individuals should call medical facilities before arriving in person to allow staff to take necessary precautions.
