North Carolina prepares for 2026 general elections

North Carolina prepares for the 2026 general elections on November 3, where voters will decide seats in the state General Assembly, judicial positions, and local offices. A state constitutional amendment regarding photo ID requirements for mail-in voting will also be on the ballot.

Early voting is scheduled to run from October 15 to October 31. During this period, registered voters can visit any designated early voting site within their county. In Mecklenburg County, 25 sites have been announced, offering opportunities for same-day registration and voting.

While English is the official language for election materials like ballots, the North Carolina State Board of Elections provides voter registration instructions and other resources in Spanish. Voters can also request mail-in ballots online without providing a specific reason. Officials note that while Hispanic registration is significant, participation rates in previous midterm elections have lagged behind the state average.
