North Carolina students march to polls after campus voting sites rejected

Students from North Carolina A&T State University and UNC Greensboro organized a march to early voting locations following decisions by Republican-majority election boards to deny on-campus polling sites.

At NC A&T, students walked approximately 45 minutes to Union Square in Greensboro to cast their ballots. The demonstration, which included a 'Party at the Polls' event featuring actress Marsai Martin, served as a protest against the removal of campus sites that had been available during the 2024 election. Organizers emphasized that the relocation creates significant hurdles for students lacking reliable transportation.

Similar accessibility concerns were reported at NC State University in Raleigh, where the Wake County Board of Elections voted to move the campus early voting site from the Talley Student Union to a location roughly one mile away. While board members cited improved parking access as the reason for the move, students and advocates expressed concern that the change would decrease voter turnout by making the process more difficult for those without vehicles.
