North Carolina urban development: New projects in Johnson and Raleigh

Development and infrastructure projects are underway in North Carolina to enhance urban living and business environments.

In Johnson, High Street Real Estate and Development is investing $7 million in a new mixed-use building named ‘The Morgan’ to honor late co-founder Morgan Hooker. Located at 5493 Hackett Road in Johnson Square, the three-story structure will feature eight condominiums and a restaurant space. Construction is being managed by Buffalo Builders, with an expected completion date in August 2027.

Meanwhile, in Raleigh, a $1 million streetscape project has commenced along Fayetteville Street. The initiative aims to revitalize the downtown corridor through landscaping, new seating, and custom artwork. City officials stated the improvements are intended to support local businesses and improve public safety. Local business owners have noted a steady increase in sales over the last three years as activity returns to the area.
