North Coast Commission releases healthcare access report
The North Coast Popular Commission on Healthcare Access has released a research report detailing the challenges faced by citizens in the Côte-Nord region of Quebec. Presented by Mireille Boivin, the research highlights that residents face significant barriers including transportation issues, distance from medical facilities, and difficulties with communication and support.
Boivin noted that while some citizens have normalized these conditions, others feel abandoned or traumatized by the lack of accessible care. To address these systemic issues, the report proposes 16 solutions, including improvements to public transportation and enhanced strategies for the recruitment and retention of healthcare personnel.
