North Dakota beats Long Island University 42-21 in season opener

North Dakota defeated Long Island University 42-21 in their season opener in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The Fighting Hawks secured the victory by scoring all of their points during the first half.

Quarterback Jerry Kaminski threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns, including scoring passes to Korey Tai, Nathan Hromadka, and Caleb Goodloe. Matt Lawson contributed two rushing touchdowns, including a 1-yard run late in the second quarter. Caleb Goodloe recorded five receptions for 118 yards.

Long Island University responded in the third quarter with a rushing touchdown by Tyselle Spencer and a 65-yard touchdown pass from Luca Stanzani to Boa Veikei. Stanzani also added a rushing touchdown to close the scoring. North Dakota's defense limited the Sharks to 71 rushing yards on 32 carries.
