North Dakota Outdoors magazine nears 95th anniversary

North Dakota Outdoors magazine is approaching its 95th anniversary, having debuted in August 1931 during the Great Depression. Managed by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, the publication provides news on conservation, hunting regulations, habitat management, and wildlife populations. Its historical archives reflect long-standing themes such as the relationship between landowners and hunters, as well as evolving wildlife propagation efforts.

In Maine, seasonal wildlife activity is increasing as fall migration begins. A large flock of geese was recently observed migrating over Long Lake in northern Maine following a drop in overnight temperatures. While Canada geese reside in the state year-round, Maine also serves as a migratory stopover for species such as snow geese, greater white-fronted geese, and Atlantic brant.
