North Dakota State athletics updates

North Dakota State University (NDSU) athletics reports include updates for both the soccer and football programs.

On the soccer pitch, the Bison are preparing to travel to Vermillion, South Dakota, to face the University of South Dakota. NDSU currently holds a 17-6-1 series lead against the Coyotes. A win or a North Dakota loss could secure the Bison a spot in the Summit League Tournament. Additionally, Morgan Russmann and Payton Mulberry were named Summit League Peak Performers of the Week following a 3-0 victory over North Dakota.

In football, NDSU is projected by ESPN to participate in the Hawaii Bowl following a 21-16 loss to New Mexico. A potential matchup against Texas State would serve as a rematch of the 1981 Division II national championship game, which the Bobcats won 42-13. The projection highlights historic coaching connections between the two programs, involving former NDSU coaches Jim Wacker and Don Morton.
