North Dakota State hosts Wyoming in inaugural Battle of the Basins

North Dakota State University (NDSU) will host the University of Wyoming this Saturday at the Fargodome for the inaugural ‘Battle of the Basins’ matchup. This game marks NDSU’s first home game in the Mountain West Conference following its transition to FBS play.

The new rivalry features a traveling trophy sponsored by the North Dakota Petroleum Council, consisting of a 28-pound replica oil drill bit. The matchup has seen significant national interest, with ticket prices reported by TickPick as being among the highest in college football for Week 5, averaging approximately $266.

To commemorate the event, NDSU will participate in a ‘Code Green’ theme, wearing limited-edition green jerseys featuring a mountain design. The athletic department is auctioning these jerseys to support the program’s FBS reclassification and NIL initiatives. Additionally, the event serves as NDSU’s 103rd homecoming game and includes the induction of several individuals into the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame.
