North-East Development Commission completes 21 infrastructure projects
The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has completed and commissioned more than 21 infrastructure projects over the last two years across six Nigerian states: Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe. Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Ahmadu, stated that these projects aim to bridge infrastructure gaps and improve living conditions in areas impacted by insecurity.
Key developments include the construction of major bridges, such as those near Bara and Duku, which connect communities across Gombe, Bauchi, and Adamawa. In the education sector, the commission highlighted the Ari Kime School project in Yobe State. This facility is designed to provide a secure environment for approximately 14,000 primary and secondary pupils, featuring eight blocks of two-storey classrooms, staff quarters, a clinic, and recreational areas.
Additionally, the NEDC has invested in higher education by constructing lecture theatres and facilities at Yobe State University, Borno State University, and Taraba State University. This includes a multi-storey entrepreneurship centre at Taraba State University equipped with computers and essential learning materials.
