North-Eastern University, Gombe approves staff salary increases
North-Eastern University, Gombe, formerly known as Pen Resource University, has approved salary increases ranging from 40 per cent to 65 per cent for its academic and non-academic staff. This latest adjustment, authorized by Pro-Chancellor and Founder Dr. Sani Jauro, marks the third major salary revision within a three-year period. Previous increases included a 35 per cent raise in October 2023 and a 20 per cent performance-based increment following the October 2024 National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yusuph Yahaya stated that the policy serves as an investment in staff morale and academic retention. The university also reported significant institutional milestones, including achieving 100 per cent accreditation for all academic degree programs submitted during the 2024 NUC drive, earning an aggregate score of 91.44 per cent. Additionally, the institution’s B.Sc. Architecture program received full professional accreditation from the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), making it the only university in the North-East region to hold this status.
