North Herts Council promotes autumn exploration of local parks and nature reserves

North Herts Council is encouraging residents to visit the district's parks and nature reserves during the autumn season. Recommended locations for experiencing seasonal foliage include Norton Common in Letchworth Garden City, which features mature woodland and glades, and Purwell Meadows in Hitchin, known for its marsh and meadow habitats.

Other highlighted sites include Great Ashby District Park, which offers a mix of ancient woodlands and grassland, and Weston Hills, providing views over Baldock and the rural parish of Bygrave. Additionally, Ivel Springs is noted for its recently restored wetland habitats and chalk streams. Councillor Amy Allen stated that these green spaces provide opportunities to connect with nature and can be accessed via sustainable walking or cycling routes.
