North Jutland municipalities host large event for foster families

Nine municipalities in North Jutland, Denmark, organized a large-scale themed day in Vrå to recognize and support foster families. The event brought together 475 foster parents from regions including Aalborg, Hjørring, Frederikshavn, and Jammerbugt.

The gathering aimed to provide professional inspiration, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and strengthen networks across municipal borders. Participants attended lectures, including a session by psychologist and author Dorthe Birkmose, focused on providing tools to manage the emotional demands of fostering and maintaining engagement in a challenging role.

Organizers emphasized that foster families are crucial partners in providing stability and security for children and young people living outside their biological families. The event also featured contributions from organizations such as Børns Vilkår and the Red Cross, alongside musical entertainment from Hjørring Music School.
