Næstved-Rønnede motorway project nears realization

The construction of a motorway connection between Næstved and Rønnede is moving closer to reality. According to a joint press release from Næstved Erhverv and the Association for the Promotion of the Zealand Cross-Motorway, a significant breakthrough has been reached.

A document from the Minister of Transport indicates that the construction law for the expansion of Route 54 between Næstved and Rønnede is expected to be presented to the Folketing in October 2026. This project represents the first stage of a larger vision for a cross-Zealand motorway connection.

Rasmus Horn Langhoff, chairman of the association, described the announcement as a ‘historic milestone’ and a ‘huge victory’ after more than 40 years of advocacy. The project is intended to improve mobility and strengthen economic development throughout the Zealand region.
