North Jutland sees rise in business bankruptcies

While the total number of bankruptcies in Denmark has reached its lowest level in five years, the trend is reversed in North Jutland. According to data from Experian, 298 Danish companies reported bankruptcy, down from 309 the previous year.

In contrast, North Jutland has seen 196 companies file for bankruptcy in the first nine months of the year, with Aalborg Municipality recording the highest number at 82. This exceeds the total of 164 bankruptcies recorded in the entire region during 2025.

Experian director Bo Rasmussen noted that while 35.4 percent of analyzed financial statements showed a deficit in 2026, and 17.6 percent of companies are under financial pressure toward bankruptcy, these levels are considered normal compared to the difficulties seen in 2023 and 2024.
