North Kalimantan expands cultural pavilion at TMII
The North Kalimantan provincial government has begun expanding and operating its regional pavilion (Anjungan Kaltara) at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in Jakarta. The project aims to strengthen the province's cultural identity and serve as a promotional hub for local tourism, traditional arts, and small and medium enterprises (UMKM).
To provide a more comprehensive representation of the province's ethnic diversity, the government is adding replicas of Tidung and Dayak traditional houses to the existing Baloy house. The development includes plans for cultural artifacts, traditional clothing, musical instruments, and interactive digital information systems to enhance the educational experience for visitors.
Beyond cultural promotion, the pavilion is intended to attract investment and showcase local products. The official opening was marked by the Semarak Benuanta event, which included community activities such as health check-ups and tree planting to activate the space as a center for public interaction.
