South Korean military officials reported that the test followed the launch of two short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea earlier in the week. There are noted discrepancies between North Korean data, which claimed a flight distance of 908.2 km, and South Korean assessments, which estimated the missiles traveled approximately 450 km and 600 km.
