North Korea-China trade rises 31% in August

Trade between North Korea and China rose by 30.9% in August, reaching a total of $237.88 million. This marks the highest August trade volume since 2017, following the implementation of significant UN Security Council sanctions.

North Korea's exports to China saw a substantial increase, totaling $55.02 million. This represents a 61.4% surge compared to August of the previous year and is the highest monthly export figure for North Korea since August 2017. Meanwhile, North Korean imports from China reached $182.85 million, a 23.9% increase from the same month last year.

From January to August of this year, cumulative trade between the two nations reached approximately $1.97 billion. During this period, North Korea's cumulative exports to China rose by 52.1% compared to the same period last year, while imports increased by 13.4%. Analysts suggest this upward trend reflects strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.
