Vietnam targets low-altitude economy and UAV industry growth by 2030

Vietnam has outlined ambitious economic and technological targets through 2030 and 2045, focusing heavily on the development of a low-altitude space economy and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Under Conclusion No. 99-KL/TW, the Politburo aims to establish three national-level UAV flight testing zones and at least one national research and testing center by 2030. The strategy seeks to increase UAV localization rates to 30–40% by 2030 and over 85% by 2045, with the low-altitude economy projected to contribute approximately 1.5% of national GDP by 2045.

On a broader macroeconomic scale, Vietnam is targeting an average annual GDP growth of at least 10% through 2030, with a goal of reaching a GDP per capita of 8,500 USD. Additionally, the government is working to upgrade the national credit rating to investment grade (Baa3 by Moody’s or BBB- by S&P/Fitch) by 2030. The low-altitude economy is expected to grow by roughly 13% annually, potentially reaching a value of 500 million USD by 2035.
