North Korea declares nuclear status irreversible amid missile tests

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui has reaffirmed that the nation's status as a nuclear-armed state is permanent and irreversible. In a series of statements, Choe dismissed calls for denuclearization and rejected the possibility of combining dialogue with confrontation, describing the pursuit of denuclearization as an “unrealistic goal.”

These remarks follow a joint statement by foreign ministers from the United States, South Korea, and Japan, who met in New York to reiterate their commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. North Korea characterized the international calls for a halt to nuclear testing as a “grave political provocation.”

Additionally, Pyongyang reported conducting a test launch of 240mm multiple-launch rockets earlier this week. The rockets, which feature an autonomous pinpoint guide system, are reportedly capable of hitting targets up to 100km away in trajectory mode and 115km in glide mode. The test is part of a broader program to modernize the country's artillery and missile capabilities.
