North Korea tests KN-23 missiles at high altitudes

North Korea has conducted new tests of its KN-23 ballistic missile, with variants reaching unprecedented altitudes that may challenge existing Patriot missile defense systems. These tests suggest North Korea is developing new variants with improved flight trajectories or warhead modifications. A 2024 RUSI study indicated that while North Korea produces metal components for the KN-23, much of the essential technology and design expertise is sourced from Russia.
