North Korean missile unit deployed in Russia for Ukraine war

Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence says a North Korean missile unit of about 90 personnel is being stationed in Russia’s western Voronezh region, within the 112th Missile Brigade. The unit is expected to operate 120 ballistic missiles and six launchers, potentially striking Ukrainian targets.

The deployment follows a series of North Korean missile shipments, including 40 KN‑23 and KN‑24 missiles already sent to Russia, and expands the existing military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang that has seen scores of North Korean missiles used against Ukraine since late 2023. Analysts warn the added missile capability worsens Ukraine’s already strained air‑defence systems, especially ahead of winter power‑grid attacks.

Russian defence officials and North Korea’s UN embassy have not commented on the claims, and Reuters could not independently verify the intelligence.
