North Korea deploys self-propelled guns near South Korean border

North Korean military forces have deployed 122mm self-propelled guns in a highly visible manner near the coastal border of Kaepung-gun, Hwanghae Province. Observed from the Aegibong Observatory in Gimpo, South Korea, the artillery pieces were positioned approximately 1.5 kilometers from the observation point with their barrels facing south.

Military experts note that this deployment is unusual, as heavy artillery is typically concealed behind mountains or terrain to avoid detection. The visible display, which included soldiers performing drills with red flags, is interpreted as an intentional show of force following recent statements by Kim Yo-jong regarding the reinforcement of tactical strike capabilities.

Simultaneously, North Korea's representative to the United Nations sent a letter to the Security Council. In the correspondence, Pyongyang accused South Korea of misrepresenting North Korean border fortification projects as military invasions, specifically referencing a landmine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in September. North Korea warned that it may take self-defense measures if its sovereignty is violated, stating South Korea would be responsible for all consequences.
