North Laurel wins 13th Region soccer championships

North Laurel secured regional titles in both the girls' and boys' soccer tournaments. In the girls' competition, the Lady Jaguars defeated Corbin 3-0 to claim the 13th Region championship, avenging a previous district tournament loss. This victory advances North Laurel to the state tournament in Lexington.

In the boys' tournament, North Laurel defeated crosstown rival South Laurel 4-1 in the championship match held at Oneida Baptist Institute. The Jaguars' victory follows a series of dominant performances throughout the tournament, including a 10-0 win over Middlesboro in the semifinals.

While Middlesboro and Harlan County experienced losses in both tournaments, coaches noted the progress of their respective programs. Middlesboro finished its season with an 11-5-1 record, while Harlan County's coaches highlighted the developmental value of the tournament experience for their young rosters.
