North Macedonia: Allegations of 37 million euro scandal spark political rift

A political dispute has intensified in North Macedonia following allegations by Venko Filipče regarding a potential 37 million euro scandal. The claims are linked to the period when Slavjanka Petrovska served as Minister of Defense, specifically involving helicopter procurement and contract discrepancies.

The opposition party, VMRO-DPMNE, has responded to these allegations by questioning Filipče’s timing and motives, suggesting the claims surfaced only after a political rift developed between him and Petrovska. The party has called for the Public Prosecutor to investigate the matter and has demanded that Filipče provide concrete evidence rather than just verbal accusations.

VMRO-DPMNE further countered by accusing Filipče of selective transparency, urging him to address various allegations regarding his own conduct and those of his associates to ensure accountability.
