North Macedonia and Austria sign cooperation pact on security and disaster response

North Macedonia and Austria have formalized an agreement to strengthen cooperation in public safety, disaster management, and law enforcement.

During a visit by Dr. Franz Ruf, the Austrian Director General for Public Security and Police, to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Directorate for Protection and Rescue (DMSH) and Austrian authorities. The memorandum focuses on disaster response, allowing for the exchange of professional knowledge, joint training, and exercises to improve operational capacities and crisis response speeds.

Additionally, North Macedonian Minister of Internal Affairs Panče Toshkovski met with Dr. Ruf to discuss expanding police collaboration. The discussions centered on combating organized and cross-border crime, illegal migration, human trafficking, terrorism, and cybercrime. Both parties emphasized the importance of real-time operational information exchange and coordinated actions to address security challenges that transcend national borders.
