North Macedonia and Turkey sign social services cooperation pact

North Macedonia and Turkey have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation in the field of social services. The agreement was signed by Gjoko Velkovski, North Macedonia’s Minister of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, and Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas, Turkey’s Minister of Family and Social Services.

The memorandum establishes a framework for institutional cooperation and the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices. Key areas of focus include strengthening family support, improving social services for women, children, persons with disabilities, and the elderly, and enhancing the social integration of individuals with addictions.

Additionally, the partnership aims to advance employment policies for persons with disabilities, support active aging, and develop mechanisms to combat violence against women. The two nations also plan to exchange experiences regarding social assistance and use socio-economic and demographic analyses to improve living conditions for Roma citizens. Implementation will occur through expert exchanges, joint documentation, and professional conferences and seminars.
