North Macedonia arrests man for verbally insulting Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski

A 52‑year‑old man from the town of Struga was detained after he shouted verbal insults at public figures, including Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, during the premier’s visit to Tashmaruni on 2 August. The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the arrest and said the suspect faces charges of obstructing a public official while performing official duties.

Political parties quickly responded: the opposition LSDM questioned the motives behind the outburst, while the ruling VMRO‑DPMNE highlighted the suspect’s Bulgarian documents and alleged external coordination. The incident underscores ongoing political tension in North Macedonia.
