North Macedonia Assembly President Afriм Gashi Pushes EU Reform Funding and New Ethics Code

Assembly President Afriм Gashi met with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos to discuss North Macedonia’s progress toward EU accession. The talks highlighted the implementation of the Reform Agenda and the approval of €142.1 million from the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans to support economic and social development.

On the same day, the Assembly promoted a new Code of Ethical Conduct for its members. Gashi emphasized that the code sets a moral agreement between deputies and citizens, ensuring public interest over personal gain, transparent debate, and protection of parliamentary dignity. International partners, including the OSCE mission, the Swiss Parliament Support Programme and gender equality representatives, were present and praised the code’s mechanisms for enforcement, such as a dedicated working group and a trustee for confidential advice.
