North Macedonia police charge two in massive internet investment scam

The Sector for Computer Crime and Digital Forensics in North Macedonia has filed criminal charges against a 56-year-old woman from Bitola and a 38-year-old Estonian man for alleged fraud. The suspects are accused of operating a fraudulent investment platform through a mobile application channel with several hundred subscribers between December 2025 and April 2026.

While only five formal complaints have been filed, financial analysis of the primary suspect's bank account suggests that hundreds of citizens across the country were victims of the scheme. The suspects reportedly promised high investment returns that were never realized, causing significant financial damage.

A multi-month investigation involving domestic and international institutions led to the identification of the suspects. Authorities seized electronic devices used for communication and, through professional analysis of cryptocurrency transactions and cooperation with international security platforms, secured data regarding the owner of the cryptocurrency wallet.
