North Macedonia celebrates World Space Week
North Macedonia is participating in World Space Week from October 4 to 10, organized under the theme ‘Rocket Revolution’. The event focuses on the rapid development of the space sector and the increasing involvement of private companies, startups, and academic teams.
National coordinator Marina Tanevska stated that the activities aim to bring space research and modern scientific achievements closer to the public while encouraging youth interest in science and technology. Scheduled events include a space mural competition, an online panel discussion titled ‘Women in Space: Paths, Perspectives, and Opportunities’, and a lecture by the Skopje Astronomical Society regarding the scale of the universe.
Educational programs will also be implemented in kindergartens and schools across the country to introduce children to astronomy, space missions, and new technologies. World Space Week commemorates the launch of Sputnik 1 on October 4, 1957, and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967.
