North Macedonia concludes nine-year EU reform dialogue cycle
The National Convention for the European Union in North Macedonia (NC EU-MK) concluded a nine-year cycle of structured dialogue with its 75th session held at the Club of Deputies. The session focused on the contribution of dialogue to the country’s European integration process, specifically addressing Cluster 1: ‘Foundations,’ which includes the rule of law, justice, security, and anti-corruption efforts.
During the event, Minister of Justice Jeton Chashivari emphasized that European integration must go beyond mere legislative alignment. He stated that it requires a fundamental transformation of institutions and public services so that citizens can feel the tangible results of reforms. Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski added that the ultimate goal is to make North Macedonia a better place to live through these processes.
Over the course of the nine-year cycle, the NC EU-MK platform facilitated engagement between institutions, the judiciary, the prosecution, civil society, and academia. The initiative involved more than 3,000 participants and resulted in the submission of over 700 recommendations to relevant state institutions for implementation and monitoring.
