North Macedonia police report 7.8 tons of missing medical cannabis

North Macedonian authorities have discovered a shortage of 7,813.49 kilograms of dried medical cannabis at a cultivation facility located in Borisovo, Novo Selo. The discrepancy was identified during a joint inspection by police from Strumica and a commission from the Ministry of Health.

Criminal charges have been filed against the legal entity and its manager, identified as V. K., for alleged violations of the Law on Control of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. In addition to the missing cannabis, inspectors noted irregularities regarding personnel documentation and a lack of records justifying the origin or disposal of the missing quantity.

The incident follows previous large-scale seizures in the region, including a case in Serbia where five tons of marijuana were seized in a warehouse, an event linked by Serbian prosecutors to Macedonian sources.
