North Macedonia diesel price jumps 20% as inflation pressures rise

The price of diesel in North Macedonia rose from 82.5 to 99.5 denars per litre, a 17‑denar increase representing a 20.6% jump in less than a month. The rise is about four times the average increase recorded across European Union countries for the same period. The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) warned that the higher fuel cost will raise transport expenses, food prices, agricultural costs and overall inflation, affecting businesses and households. The party accused the government of leaving citizens to bear the burden while other nations mitigate fuel price spikes with tax cuts, subsidies and protective measures, and said the surge will trigger a new wave of price increases across the economy.
