Online transactions in North Macedonia reached a total value of 530.3 million euros during the first half of 2026, marking a 14.1% increase compared to the same period last year. According to data from the National Bank of North Macedonia analyzed by the Association of E-commerce of Macedonia (AETM), the total number of online transactions rose by 10.1% to 15.3 million.
Domestic e-merchants accounted for 302.4 million euros of the total value, representing a 14.9% annual growth. Of this amount, approximately 271.5 million euros were paid using Macedonian payment cards. Meanwhile, Macedonian cardholders spent 227.9 million euros with foreign e-merchants, a 13.3% increase from the previous year.
Foreign cardholders using Macedonian online stores saw a significant rise, with transactions totaling 30.9 million euros, up 23.8% year-on-year. The average value per online transaction was 34.6 euros, a 3.7% increase. AETM President Nina Angelovska Stankov noted that while the sector continues to develop, challenges remain in directing more consumer spending toward domestic companies through improved logistics and digital payment integration.
