North Macedonia economic growth triples EU average, says Mickoski
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski stated that North Macedonia has achieved an average economic growth rate three times higher than that of the European Union. Speaking at the presentation of the World Bank report, ‘Macedonia: Escaping the Middle-Income Trap’, Mickoski noted that over the past 27 months, the country has maintained an average real growth rate of over 3.5 percent, while the EU and eurozone have seen growth between 1 and 1.2 percent.
Regarding trade, Mickoski highlighted that during the third quarter, export growth reached 11.5 percent, outpacing import growth of 8.5 percent. He also addressed economic stability, noting that despite global challenges such as regional wars and energy crises, the country has maintained stable fuel prices and lower inflation rates compared to the European average. In July and August, local inflation was recorded at 2.3 percent and 2.6 percent respectively, while the European average was higher at 2.9 percent and 3.3 percent.
