North Macedonia Education Minister announces 15% school basket reduction
North Macedonia's Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, announced a 15 percent reduction in the school basket, describing it as a significant relief for parents. She noted that while primary and secondary education is free and mandatory, the state provides additional support through textbooks, transportation, and electronic devices provided by municipalities.
Regarding higher education, Janevska stated there are currently no plans to increase the cost of student meals. She noted that the meal allowance was increased by 20 denars two years ago, rather than the standard 7 denars adjusted for inflation, and claimed no formal complaints have been received from student organizations since then.
Additionally, the Minister addressed an audit report concerning student dormitories. She confirmed that mismanagement by the leadership of several dormitories has been identified and reported to the relevant institutions for further action.
