North Macedonia Education Minister denies hiding student dormitory scores

North Macedonia’s Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, has denied allegations from the Levica party that the Ministry is concealing points and results regarding student dormitory admissions. Janevska stated that the ranking lists for both accepted and rejected students have been published transparently and that all admissions follow established regulations.

The Minister explained that students who were not admitted failed to meet specific criteria, such as those studying for a seventh or eighth year or those whose parents have exceptionally high incomes. She emphasized that the criteria were publicly announced in the call for applications.

Alexander Karovski, Director of Student Dormitories, confirmed that admissions are being conducted according to the lists published on the Ministry’s website. Currently, 1,695 students have been accepted, with 20 percent of spots reserved for first-year students. Additionally, the renovated Kuzman Josifovski Pitu dormitory is expected to be operational in a few months, providing housing for 280 students.
